Day TWO of great weather underway. We’ll get a few more of these nice weather days before the pattern brings rain chances back to the state early Friday morning with colder weather this weekend. Temps will be chilly this morning, but afternoon highs today will reach the mid-60s along with abundant sunshine and variable winds around 10 mph. Wind speeds will gradually increase for the middle of the week but also help to bring the warmer weather into northeastern OK. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will reach the upper 60s and lower 70s.
The upper-level pattern remains from the north to northwest today but will quickly become zonal Wednesday and then from the southwest Thursday into Friday. A closed low near southern California will eject eastward soon and move across the central plains Thursday night into Friday. A surface low-pressure area will form at the surface and scoot across northern OK Thursday night with a few showers or storms nearing the eastern third of the state. This upper system will have some dynamics, but the low-level moisture and instability is expected to remain very low for our immediate areas. Locations from Northeast Texas into East Texas may experience a few strong to severe storms as the surface front rolls across these areas Friday morning. We expect a few showers Friday morning across northeastern with some thunder potentially across southeastern OK. Once the lead wave and front clear the region, colder air aloft will move across the region this weekend and daytime highs will take a tumble into the 40s. The upper air flow will remain from the northwest or west this weekend and could bring a weak disturbance near the state. But data is not consistent to make any significant changes at this point for the weekend. Any precipitation should remain north across central to eastern Kansas. The following week does appear active with several storm systems ready for transiting across the plains.
Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
