According to the Tulsa Sheriff's Department, a call came in around 9:30 p.m. on Monday for five young boys who had run away from the Tulsa Boys Home.
Authorities began searching the area and were able to find three of the boys standing on a sand bar in the river after they heard them calling for help near the Highway 97 bridge. Deputies were able to bring them to safety, but the three boys said that the other two were swept away by the river. One of the boys was able to make it out of the water on his own and is now safe. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is now leading this investigation.
The Tulsa Boys Home Executive Director Gregg Conway issued this statement, saying,
Our hearts are deeply saddened by the unfortunate and tragic loss of the life of young Rylan Harris. Our prayers for God’s great strength and comfort go out to Rylan’s parents and family, and to all who knew and loved him.
