Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe, chairman of the Armed Forces Committee, has indicated that he will support President-elect Joe Biden's nominee for Defense Secretary.

Retired General Lloyd Austin will require special approval from Congress as he has not been retired from active service for the typically required seven years.

In an interview with Politico, Inhofe said that he would support a required waiver for Austin.

Retired General Lloyd Austin would be the first African American to serve as Defense Secretary.
