Humble Sons Bike Company, which aims to give children and families access to bicycles, donated 244 bikes to families.

The bikes delivered go directly to families at Family & Children Services, making sure children can experience the joy of riding a bike.

It’s a joint effort by Humble Sons Bike Company and the agency, as Humble Sons Bike Company donated the bikes and Family & Children Services will provide them to families.

Jason Whorton, the Executive Director for Humble Sons Bike Company said they have a bike club that serves about 400 students from Tulsa Public Schools.

This is the 13th year they’ve donated bikes to the agency. However, Whorton said this year was very special.

“With COVID-19 and the situation we are living in today, these bikes are needed more than ever,” Whorton said.

Once the bikes were dropped off, case workers and therapist at Family & Children Services began picking them up.

Tom Taylor, the Chief Development Officer for Family & Children Services said the bikes are a part of their Holiday Assistance Program.

“It’s our school-based program, women in recovery program, child abuse, and trauma services that have a case worker or therapist they get served with these bikes as a surprise gift,” Taylor said.

Taylor said the program also provides necessities that families need during the holiday season.

“These gifts really help make a difference in their lives,” Taylor said.
