Warm clothing items, such as scarves and gloves, have been pinned around the 26-foot Christmas tree located on Main Street in Collinsville. According to the city, the donations are anonymous and are available for anyone in need.

Sherry Campbell, City of Collinsville, told News On 6 this is the second year donations like this have appeared on the big tree. She said items have appeared overnight following the first time the tree is lit up.

Some are now calling it a tradition in Collinsville. Each time items are taken, new ones arrive to fill the void.

“It’s really been a blessing to people to be able to come here if they’re in need of warm clothing to be able to get it off the tree,” said Campbell. “We hope that people who need warm clothing will come to the tree and be able to take what they need.”

The tree stands tall on Main Street near the Casey’s General Store.
