Mild weather continues today with a warmer trend through tomorrow before a strong cold front rolls across the state bringing colder weather and windy conditions back to northeastern OK. A few showers may accompany this front Wednesday morning, but the chances remain rather low and mostly east of the Tulsa metro. Gusty winds Tuesday and Wednesday may approach wind advisory criteria as the cold weather returns for Christmas Eve. A mini-warming trend will begin Christmas Day through the weekend before another front arrives Sunday or early next week with more cold air. The prospects for a White Christmas for northeastern OK looks rather bleak at the moment.

Today's Forecast

Temps will respond from the 30s and 40s this morning into the lower and mid-60s by afternoon with plenty of sunshine and light winds. The Winter Solstice occurred earlier today, so welcome to Winter. Viewing for the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction this evening should be very good with only a few high passing clouds this evening. Viewers should look to the southwest shortly after sunset and slightly above the horizon.

Monday Highs

Strong south winds return Tuesday as the pressure gradient increases ahead of a trough bringing the strong front across the state early Wednesday morning. Moisture will be very thin and mostly located across far eastern OK and western Arkansas, but I will keep a low pop for eastern OK with the frontal passage for a few hours Wednesday morning. Strong winds will remain Tuesday night into Wednesday along and behind the front and this will bring colder air back into the area through the day Wednesday. We may start in the 50s Wednesday morning but drop into the 40s by the afternoon with partly to mostly sunny conditions midday.

Rain Outlook

Christmas Eve starts in the mid-20s but will be a sunny and chilly afternoon with highs in the lower 40s. Northwest winds may continue to be breezy around 15 to 25 mph. Christmas Morning looks clear and cold with lows in the mid-20s. South winds return through the midday to afternoon and will bring highs into the upper 40s or lower 50s for the afternoon with plenty of sunshine and mild weather. The weekend features a min-warming trend with highs reaching the mid-50s before another system moves across the state Sunday into Monday with a few showers and more cold weather before the New Years Holiday.

Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog,

Have a super great day!
