The Salvation Army said they've had fewer bell ringers this year because of the pandemic. They're worried they're going to fall short of their fundraising goal this year.

The nonprofit said they typically have volunteers at more than 80 locations in Tulsa. This year, they only have half that number of red kettles out, because fewer people are volunteering to ring the bells.

The Salvation Army said so far, they've raised more than $655,000. They say they're hoping to collect about $49,500 more.

They said the money they raise is used to fund their operations throughout the year.

"Most people associate the Red Kettle with Christmas of course, and they may think about our toys and our food outreach at this time of year, but it really is a support for so many different services throughout the year," Salvation Army Tulsa Area Commander Maj. Mark Harwell said.

The Red Kettle campaign ends on Christmas Eve. You can donate online or find locations here.
