Food bank leaders say they have seen a 30% to 35% spike over the past month and they are expecting the high rate to continue for at least the next 3 to 5 months.

The food bank leaders said that they are also seeing several people in need of help for the first time.

CEO Lori Long said many people are eager to donate or volunteer and she hopes that continues beyond the holidays.

“It’s natural for people to give during the holidays and we hope people will continue to give through the holidays but don’t forget us after the first of the year, as well," said Long.
