Monday, people got a tour of a new extended living facility that is the first of its kind to open in Oklahoma.

“It’s a smaller environment we’ll be able to keep the residents safe. With the vaccines that we’ve all gotten and the residents will have gotten," said Alexis Batiste.

Batiste is the Director of Clinical Services and said there is nothing like this facility anywhere else in the state.

“What the differences are for our extended living is that they are able to come into a family where the caregivers are doing everything," said Kimberly Green with the Diakonos Group.

Green said after researching extended living facilities across the country, they began drawing up plans for their facility in Tulsa. They can accommodate up to 45 residents in private or semi-private rooms.

“So in a traditional facility you may have 60 or 65 people and they are going to the dining room together prior to COVID or they’re doing activities together, this is more intimate," said Green.

Green said one of the key amenities of the facility is the attachment of a new Ceauru-Zarrow Medical Resort.

“Inpatient therapy, short term stays for people who have broken a hip or maybe have a wound or maybe recovering from COVID," said Batiste.

She said that means patients can possibly leave the hospital sooner and receive treatment here.

“So you can get all of that in one place that is set up differently and feels different than anything else in Oklahoma," said Green.

Green said the first resident will move in on Wednesday and the Cearu-Zarrow Medical Resort will open next month.
