American Airlines said emotional support animals will no longer be allowed on its flights, unless it is a dog.
American said it will follow the Department of Transportation’s new rule, which defines a service animal as a dog that is trained to work or perform tasks for a qualified individual with a disability.
The new rule goes into effect Monday, January 11. The airline said existing bookings involving all emotional support animals will be honored through February 1.
