Oklahoma Representative Kevin Hern is now the first Oklahoman in two decades to be appointed to the Congressional "Ways and Means" Committee.
Ways and Means" is the chief tax-writing committee for the House of Representatives. It is also the oldest committee in the U.S. Congress.
In a statement, Congressman Hern said:
"I am honored to join some of Congress' brightest minds on its most historic and powerful committee, it's been 20 years since an Oklahoman Sat on Ways and Means; I am proud to represent our state and advocate for our people in this new role."
Hern is one of three Republicans who will be named to the committee, including Lloyd Smucker of Pennsylvania and Carol Miller of West Virginia.
