The Broken Arrow City Council will discuss and possibly take action on an ordinance and resolution regarding masks in a special meeting on Tuesday night. Comments from the community will also be heard at the meeting.
Per the meeting agenda, the city attorney will present an ordinance declaring an emergency, because of COVID-19, and mandating the use of masks with some exceptions. A resolution will also be presented on measures to reduce transmission of the virus and give more support to businesses that have established their own mask mandate.
The council will be presented data on the infection rates of COVID-19 in Broken Arrow and will hear from two doctors regarding the virus and mask mandates. There will be an opportunity for people to address the council before approval of the ordinance and resolution is discussed.
The meeting will take place at the Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center after the council requested a bigger venue to safely accommodate everyone. Masks are not required at this venue.
A videoconference area will be set up at City Hall for people to chime in to the meeting virtually. Masks are required in the area.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
