A Wagoner County woman is in custody and charged with murdering her roommate after the roommate was found dismembered, in a freezer, in rural Arkansas.

Kore Bommeli, reported her roommate Talina Galloway, missing, nine months ago.

Investigators say Bommeli became their prime suspect after she kept changing her story and began selling the victim's belongings immediately.

Wagoner County District Attorney Jack Thorp says in his 20-year career, this is one of the worst cases he has ever seen.

The break in the case came from a witness four hours away from here in rural Arkansas, who not only found the freezer but provided crucial information to investigators that led to the arrest.

Talina Galloway went missing in April, and her roommate Kore Bommeli told investigators Galloway had left because of COVID-19.

Investigators say Bommeli was later arrested for selling the victim’s truck, destroying evidence, and obstructing the investigation.

“It’s always heartbreaking when you have to pick up the phone and you have to tell the family that that missing person is deceased,” said District Attorney Thorp during a news conference.

Investigators say they learned Bommeli rented a U-Haul trailer in June and when she returned it, it had a very foul smell.

They say the witness in Arkansas reported seeing a U-Haul trailer near the dumpsite and, when she checked on it, she noticed a foul smell as well as a thick liquid inside.

She wrote down the tag number and that information was key to making the arrest.

“I have always said, a law enforcement agency's greatest resource is the citizens we serve out there. They are our eyes and ears,” said Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott. “They are the ones, a great many of times are the ones that come forward with information that will break a case wide open. This is just a great example of that.”

The medical examiner's office determined it was Talina Galloway's remains in the freezer and she’d been murdered.

An affidavit says Bommeli had been trying to buy the land where the body was found, and her internet history showed she had searched for ways to get blood out of concrete and wood floors.

“My mission is to bring justice to the family and friends of this Wagoner County citizen that unlawfully lost her life,” said Thorp.

“A missing person that we find, that’s been dismembered and put in a freezer--that’s something that I’ll never forget,” said Elliott.

Sheriff Elliott says it is still unclear what the motive was.

Bommeli is in jail in Wisconsin right now but will be brought back to Wagoner County to face the murder charge.
