The Tulsa Fire Department has only 10 firefighters in quarantine because of COVID-19. More than 700 men and women work for the department.
At one point during the pandemic, 82 firefighters were in quarantine.
“Really, we put our firefighters in all of the places you tell others not to be, our firefighters are working as a daily part of their jobs, so they have a heightened risk of exposure. So for us, having mask wearing and having good checks and cleaning with the station, has reduced that number,” Tulsa Fire Chief Michael Baker said.
Baker said about one-third of the department has had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
