On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face-off in Super Bowl LV.
The fans in the stands will look very different than any other super bowl. Because of the pandemic, the stadium will be more than half empty.
Tens of thousands of real fans will be in attendance, but they will be socially distanced with the gaps filled in by plastic, recyclable cutouts of real sports fans.
"I think we'll be producing between 20 and 30,000 cutouts for the Super Bowl by the time it's all said and done," said Blue Media CEO Jared Smith. "you know, every single one of these is, they're actually people. And they're from all over the country. And it's cool to see almost everybody smiling, just the concept that they're going to get to be at the game."
The images that will be used for the cutouts were sent in by real football fans around the world.
For $100 per cut out, fans uploaded their photos online, with all proceeds going to charity.
