Man Killed In Building Fire Near Downtown Tulsa

Tulsa firefighters say one person was found dead after an early morning building fire near 18th and Cheyenne.

According to officials, the building, which is believed to be abandoned, caught fire around 4:30. Crews said they were near the scene responding to a medical emergency around 4:30 a.m. Officials said that they initially drove by the building on their way to a separate call and there was no fire however, they were called to the scene only a few minutes later after smoke was spotted on the scene.

According to fire officials, a man was found dead inside of the apartment and officials said that he appeared to be living in the abandoned building.

Crews were able to extinguish the blaze and it is currently unknown how it began.

Officials have not yet identified the man killed in the blaze.
