A car registered to a person living in Tulsa is at the center of a bizarre chase that lasted for hours in Los Angeles this week.

The car itself had Missouri plates, but LAPD said the plates come back to an address in Tulsa near 21st and Garnett.

The chase lasted for six hours; it started around 7 p.m. Tuesday night and ended around 1:30 in the morning.

LAPD tried to pull over the Chevrolet Malibu when they said the driver reached under his seat for what they thought might have been a gun.

It is unclear why officers pulled him over, but the stop may have been linked to an earlier shooting in Los Angeles.

The suspect sped through residential neighborhoods and often weaved past other cars and ran red lights.

At one point, he drove on the wrong side of the road before getting onto the 1-10 Freeway and slowing to a crawl with LAPD officers following behind him.

Police got the car to slow by setting up a set of spike strips; the chase ended shortly after that.

The 35-year-old suspect has an extensive criminal history.

However, it is not clear if the person police arrested is from Tulsa.

It is also not clear how that car ended up in California, but police said the vehicle was not stolen.
