Some residents in the Southern Plaza neighborhood near 51st and Memorial said vandals hit their street Wednesday morning, and they demand to know who is behind the tire-slashing spree.

News On 6 could see several cars along South 76th East Avenue with flat tires.

"What goes around, comes around,” said Julie Zorn, who had three tires slashed. “What you sow, you will reap.

It's a similar story for Jeff Turner and other neighbors.

"I'd seen the neighbor across the road in the street changing two tires, so I walked outside to help him, and he hollered at me and told me my tire's been cut, too," Turner said.

Neighbors told News On 6 about a dozen cars were vandalized, mostly cut tires, some tires stolen and even at least one car had doors kicked in.

Some of the victims took their vehicles down the street to Shamrock Tire & Auto Repair near 51st and Mingo.

General Manager Pat Stos showed News On 6 some of the damage.

“Usually it's going to be something with a block blade or something so the blade doesn't come back and cut their hand as they're poking them because these tires aren't easy to poke," explained Stos.

Stos said each tire could cost $80 to hundreds of dollars to be replaced, but the victims got a discount.

"They're hardworking people just like everybody else, and to have somebody go out and vandalize these vehicles for no reason, you feel sorry for them,” said Stos.

Officer Andre Baul said this string of vandalism looks like an isolated case, but police need all victims to report.

"So, we'd actually have to wait for citizens to actually call us for us to actually take or note that there is some sort of trend happening," said Baul.

So far, it sounds like all the nearby surveillance cameras did not catch the crime in action.

Police do urge everyone to install cameras or bright lights and park in the garage if you can.
