Tuesday is election day in Oklahoma and currently, all 259 precincts will open as planned, despite winter weather conditions.
Tulsa County Election Board Secretary Gwen Freeman said the decision to postpone an election because of weather is up to the state election board or the governor.
Voters in Jenks will decide on a two-part school bond package totaling more than $16 million that will not raise taxes.
Jenks city officials say the money would go toward improving technology, safety and transportation and would buy textbooks and media equipment. It would also help update the performing arts center, as well as baseball and softball facilities.
A $35 million bond for McAlester Schools is on the ballot for voters there. The money would be used to build a new middle school and event center. Superintendent Randy Hughes said the buildings would sit next to the current high school and are long overdue.
"Our current facility was built in 1947. It is the oldest acting primary gymnasium in the state. It holds under 900 people and honestly, it's time for an upgrade," said Superintendent Hughes.
Hughes said the bond is an extension of a current tax and not an increase.
There are also a few other school bonds in the area along with several school board and city council elections.
