Tulsa road crews are working hard on Wednesday morning to try and lessen the impacts of winter weather on the city's streets.

Crews are back out at the salt yard for the third day in a row keeping the trucks filled and ready to treat the streets again as winter weather continues to create hazardous roadways.

Terry Ball with the city of Tulsa said keeping 1,700 miles of streets is no small task but the crews are doing a great job even in the cold overnight hours.

"We'll have a protective layer on there and we'll actually around midnight have four brine trucks and we'll assign those and go ahead, especially those elevated surfaces that tend to be problematic when you have another wave come, we'll be adding some more pretreatment to those bridges," said Ball.

Ball said that even though this is the third day in a row of icy weather, they are more and more prepared each day since they are able to stay ahead of the weather systems instead of catching up.
