Here are six things to know before you set your alarm for Saturday.
1.WEATHER EMERGENCY: The big story of the weekend – weather. Oklahoma is in a state of emergency with the winter storm coming through starting Saturday night. Tune into News on 6 or stay up to date on your app.
2.BLOOD EMERGENCY: Another emergency in the state is the blood shortage. The Oklahoma Blood Institute is down to a half-day supply because of the weather and the pandemic. There’s a blood drive from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Donor Center on East 81st Street.
3.VEHICLE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Meals on Wheels needs help Saturday delivering meals and blizzard boxes to 1,500 seniors. The St. Bernard Brigade is looking for volunteers who have a four-wheel drive vehicle. Head to the Meals on Wheels website for more.
4.KITTEN BOWL: Saturday is the last day of the Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl. The Humane Society of Tulsa is part of the national adoption event. Find a kitten to join your home team at the website here.
5.ROMANCE AT THE REEF: This weekend is Valentine’s Day and its Romance at the Reef at the Oklahoma aquarium. A Valentine’s Day visit package gets you and your sweetheart into the aquarium, a scavenger hunt and Valentine’s treats.
6.FOR THE GALS: If romance isn’t your thing, or you just want some girl time, ladies, grab your gals and your yoga mat. There’s a Galentine’s Day event at the Mayo in downtown Tulsa. There’s yoga, facials, braids and brow bars, and more from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
