ODOT crews are getting a lot of help from today’s sunshine as they clear the roads across Oklahoma, but they are still working around the clock.

ODOT told News on 6 their focus right now is plowing the snow off the highways, then they will work on salting and sanding. Crews are rotating on 12-hour shifts.

Because of last night’s snow, Kenna Mitchell with ODOT said their work is not over. Even though the sun is out, the refreezing will be an issue the next several days.

“So, the storm has passed but that doesn’t mean our work is over, clearing things and checking for those black ice conditions that are developing in the overnight hours. So, will still be several days out of this for us to completely finish the operations,” Mitchell said.

ODOT said plow drivers are having difficulty with cars speeding past them on the highways and they ask drivers to slow down.
