A feature-length documentary on the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre has been greenlit by the History Channel.

NBA star and former Thunder player Russell Westbrook is the executive producer of the project, tentatively titled “Tulsa Burning: The 1921 Race Massacre.”

The film is directed by Peabody and Emmy-Award winner Stanley Nelson and Peabody and du-Pont-Award winner Marco Williams.

The documentary project, first announced in June 2020, is set to air on The History Channel this spring ahead of the 100th anniversary of the massacre.

The Tulsa Historical Society, the John Hope Franklin Center and other local organizations contributed to the documentary.
