The city of Chelsea said they’ve had two water outages in the past three days and are hoping to not have anymore.

The city said for the first time all week, the water supply is in pretty good shape. Residents first dealt with a 12-hour water outage this week, then an eight-hour water outage.

The city said since a lot of people have been home this week, the water usage was higher than normal, plus all of the leaks due to the freezing temperatures, the city was forced to shut down the water to fill the storage tank.

The city said they’ve had to fill the storage tank to do routine maintenance and maintain fire protection.

They say right now the water filter plant is running at full capacity and is running the best it has all week.

Town Administrator Kenny Weast said they are hoping this will be the last of the issues, but since everything is thawing out, they are concerned there could be more problems.

The city encourages anyone who sees a leak to call it in immediately, so they can fix it and not have to shut off the water again.
