Now that things are thawing out, that means even more water line breaks in the city of Tulsa, but there is some good news when it comes to how they are repairing those breaks.

The city said they are no longer shutting all water off to broken lines, now they are pinching the lines which means residents will have lower water pressure, but you will still have water.

Road closures, orange cones, and tractors can be found all over Tulsa as crews work on the 279 reported water line breaks.

“These are unprecedented times we are going to prioritize repairs on the lines that have been valved down the longest to try to get our customers their service back as quick as possible," said Clayton Edwards.

Edwards is the Director of Tulsa's Water and Sewer Departments. He said 35 crews have been able to repair more than 120 water lines so far.

“Working in dangerous conditions unbearable conditions and they’re still out there doing their job it’s amazing what our staff are doing with the primary goal of keeping our customers with the water," said Edwards.

The city's website shows 150 active water breaks, leaving more than 1,500 homes and 149 businesses without water right now.

200 Families now have water service again after several repairs in the past 24 hours. Crews are still working 24/7 and they will be for the next several days.

“With the warmer weather, we anticipate to have more breaks as the ground shifts with the warmer weather it puts stress on our pipes; so, we’re anticipating that," said Edwards.

To report any waterline breaks, you can call Water Dispatch at 918-596-9488 or Sewer Dispatch at 918-586-6999. Customers can also email the water department: waterbreaks@cityoftulsa.org

The City has created an interactive map that provides additional information on waterline breaks as they happen and are repaired. View the map at: https://maps.cityoftulsa.org/watermainbreaks
