Several Oklahoma City metro cities and school districts are feeling the effects of the winter storm, one week after it hit.

Union City said its water supplier, El Reno, is still working to turn the water back on for residents.

Although El Reno is working closer to city limits, Union City said it still doesn't know when residents will have water again. Once Union City gets the water from El Reno, it will still take time to get all the air out of the pipes.

Union City said it will do its best to have a fire truck posted up outside of the fire department so residents can come to fill up a bucket of water. This is not drinking water, but residents can use it to flush their toilets.

The city of Spencer is giving out drinking water for its residents at the Spencer Fire Department at 8310 NE 36th Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Oklahoma City said residents may still have low or no water pressure. If your water is back on, the city wants you to conserve as much as possible.

Norman Public Schools said the winter storm caused pipes to burst leading to damage, flooding, and low water pressure. The district’s buildings are not open Monday, so students will switch to distance learning.

Guthrie Public Schools said its junior high school students are also learning from home after the district found the boiler system damaged in the cafeteria. That system heats up the building. The district said students will go virtual this week because the schools will be too cold.

All Choctaw-Nicoma Park school students are learning virtually Monday. Tuesday, only High School CNP students will learn virtually while the district cleans up flooding inside the building.

Chickasha Public Schools is encouraging families to send their students to class with bottled water since the city is under a voluntary boil order.
