The oldest fluent speaker of the endangered Cherokee Nation language has passed away at the age of 96.

The oldest fluent speaker of the endangered Cherokee Nation language has passed away at the age of 96.

The Cherokee Nation said Evelyn Bush was well known for her love of gardening and good biscuits.

She is remembered by her large extended family that includes nine children, 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
