A bill to give Oklahoma's Department of Corrections employees mandated 15 minute breaks passed the state house unanimously on Monday.

HB 1667 by Representative Kevin West from Moore would mandate that ODOC employees get a 15-minute break during the first eight hours of a 12-hour shift, then another break in the last four hours.

The bill originally passed the House last year but was laid over when the department said it would implement the change, without the mandate. However, since then no policy has been drafted, so the bill was re-introduced.

The bill will now head to the state Senate for approval.
