A Broken Arrow contractor said an excavator stolen from a job site is back in their possession. Deputies recovered the equipment after receiving a tip from a News On 6 viewer.
Diversified Civil Contractors focuses mostly on work in the Tulsa metro. In February, two pieces of equipment were stolen from different job sites just five days apart.

Project Manager Derrick Heineman told News On 6 the stolen excavator and skid steer added up to a nearly $160,000 loss. Heineman said on Monday he got a call from the Osage County Sheriff’s deputies who said the excavator had been recovered.
The sheriff’s office told Heineman they received an anonymous tip from someone who saw the original story that aired on News On 6. Heineman is thankful to the deputies who recovered the excavator and said the company is taking steps to make sure this does not happen again.
“We do have trackers on all of our machines now that give us updates minutely,” said Heineman. “If the machine starts moving we get updates on our phones sent directly to us.”
Heineman said they are hopeful the missing skid steer will turn up next.
