Nearly $20 million in federal funding is coming to City of Tulsa and Tulsa County residents to help with rent and utility assistance. The new program led by Restore Hope Ministries will begin accepting applications on Monday.
According to Restore Hope Ministries, it will be the lead agency to administer $19.6 million in aid to those in need. The money will help pay rent for those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This program not only pays current rent, but it can also help with past due rent and in some cases, even rent for three months in advance.
To apply, certain requirements must be met.
Applicants have to live in the City of Tulsa or Tulsa County and be at least 18 years old. Household income has to be at or below 80% of the area's median income.
Applicants will have to prove that they have been experiencing difficulty with housing.
Lastly, applicants will have to prove that their income has been impacted by COVID-19 or that they qualified for unemployment benefits since March 13th of 2020.
