Broken Arrow Police will be adding a Tesla to their fleet of patrol vehicles.
The department will replace on its aging gas-powered cruisers with the new Tesla Model Y. The new car will cost about $52,000 but police said it will pay for itself in just a few years.
“Because you're not spending as much money on fuel or oil changes or maintenance, at the 42-month mark is when it breaks even,” Broken Arrow police officer Chris Walker said.
It will be the first all-electric police vehicle in the state of Oklahoma.
