The community is coming together to support a Tulsa nonprofit that helps kids follow their dreams.

The Wesley Chapel just held its annual fundraiser, after the event was postponed by the winter storm.

"This is our annual gala this year it is called The Night of Love and our focus is on loving God, loving one another, and loving the children of North Tulsa," said Pastor Chris Beach of Wesley Chapel, Tulsa.

Beach is a man who knows how to bring people together.

"This is an opportunity to have a whole bunch of folks from all over town rally around the kids of North Tulsa," said Beach.

Beach can usually be found helping families, going a million miles a minute, and trying to make things happen for the people in his church.

"We were supposed to have this night on Valentines. It took about two months to plan it and when that didn't happen because of the storm- we housed 45 people for a couple weeks at the church instead - we postponed the gala," said Beach.

Now, the room is filled with people who want to support Wesley Chapel and the work the YouthWorks Program does. It's a nonprofit that helps hundreds of at-risk elementary school kids have the resources they need to thrive.

"We don't want to just help them with reading and math and schoolwork which we do a lot of, but we also want to help the kids live out their life dreams," said Beach.

The money donated to YouthWorks goes towards summer camps, after school programs, education and business lessons and healthy meals for the kids.

"I was able to take 38 of our students from Glenpool High School up there to deliver goods or feed people out on the streets," said Mike Doudican with Glenpool Public Schools.

You might recognize Mike Doudican from an earlier Something Good story. His students at Glenpool High School started helping Wesley Chapel a couple months ago and now Doudican is here to continue to show his support.

"To know what he is and who he is simply amazing because he will deflect everything from him and the lives that he touches, I mean he is inspirational. He is a great hero of mine," said Doudican.

Beach will tell you he can't do it alone. It takes the community and their support, and he hopes that support continues.
