Putnam City School Students To Return To In-Person Class 4 Days A Week

For the first time since the start of the pandemic, Putnam City School students return to the classroom four days a week, Monday.

The district says that they feel ready for students to return to the classroom thanks to the opportunity for fully vaccinated faculty and staff, the beginning of the installation of new air quality technology, and the advice of the OKC-County Health Department.

Students will attend in-person Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday beginning April 5th.

Wednesday will be a remote learning day. Teachers will be in the buildings creating online content for quarantined students to use in the week ahead.

According to the district, Wednesdays will also be used for state testing for Putnam City at Home students. 

Putnam City North High School will offer COVID-19 testing for students and staff Monday through Friday from 12:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. it is free with insurance and $75 without it.

Monday is a big deal as students will be meeting half of their classmates that they have only known through a computer screen until now. 

The district is also preparing for summer and getting kids back on track for next year.

Online learning has been challenging for many, so Putnam City Schools says they will be launching a summer school program. It runs June 2 through the 25th Monday through Friday.

The curriculum will focus on being outside the box and hands-on so that students can take some time away from their devices. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and registration for that opens April 8th.

This year has also been mentally tough. So the district will also offer mental health resources for students.
