A bill designed to protect tribal citizens being targeted by scams passes in the U.S. House of Representatives by a wide margin.
The bill was written by Oklahoma Representative Markwayne Mullin (OK-2).
“FTC data says that tribal members are more likely to be the victims of scams and are less likely to report scams than any other group,” Mullin said.
The bill directs the Federal Trade Commission to study the types of predatory schemes that target tribal members and also creates a plan for Congress to take action against them.
It now heads to the Senate.
