The state health department says they have seen a 40 percent decrease this week in people getting vaccinated.

It's a number they say they're watching closely.

Health officials say the pause in the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is a contributing factor, but there are other factors as well, including hesitancy from some.

A federal FEMA vaccine clinic in Tulsa for example has had a massive amount of appointments go unfilled.

FEMA says only 96 people were vaccinated yesterday, even though they were prepared to give out 3,000 shots.

Still, the health department is encouraged by the number of Oklahomans who have gotten vaccinated.

Commissioner of Health Dr. Lance Frye says more than 50 percent of people in the state have received at least one dose, and 2.5 million doses have been administered.

Frye says they're also noticing the way Oklahomans are getting the vaccine varies as well.

"We have several pods going in the state and they're just not seeing the number of people show up to those pods as they have in the past. But we are seeing a lot of people getting vaccinated from their primary care physician or a pharmacy,” said Frye.

The health department says COVID-19 is still spreading in the community.

And the U.K. variant is the most common type they are seeing.

Health officials say they're also keeping track of how many people have still contracted COVID-19 after being vaccinated, which is called breakthrough cases.

They say 137 people have tested positive after getting the shot, which they say is a tiny number compared to the 2.5 million they've given out. Nine have been hospitalized and they report one death.
