Governor Kevin Stitt signed a bill into law named after a Tulsa Police sergeant shot and killed during a traffic stop.
The Sergeant Craig Johnson Act was the first bill introduced in the state house this session. It aims to crack down on scrap metal theft.
Johnson was instrumental in the legislation’s creation and worked with a statewide coalition to develop the bill.

Another bill named after Sgt. Johnson is currently in the state senate. It would amend the state’s accessory to murder statute.
