The search continues for possible mass graves from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. The Public Oversight Committee for that investigation will meet Thursday night to discuss the latest findings.

At least 12 coffins containing human remains were found at Oaklawn Cemetery last summer. When will the excavation for those coffins happen? We know it will be sometime this summer, but an exact date has yet to be set. The committee is expected to give an update on that timeline as well as additional logistics.

The 12 coffins discovered last summer are in an area where researchers had previously detected anomalies. Right now, it is unknown if those coffins are associated with the race massacre, but researchers hope to identify those remains and find out their causes of death.

Their location is significant because those remains were found in the historic African American section of the cemetery, previously called the "Original 18" site.

Funeral home records from 1921 show that at least 18 identified and unidentified African American massacre victims were buried in Oaklawn.

The Public Oversight Committee will meet virtually at 5 p.m.
