It's a different type of tip line for Midwest City police.

"It's just an amazing feeling to get out and connect with the community again," said Lt. Laura Henry of the Midwest City Police Department.

It's the first in-person Tip-A-Cop fundraiser Midwest City police has put on since the pandemic.

It's also their first one outside, on Wednesday going car door-to-door at the Chick-Fil-A off Southeast 29th Street.

The event raises money for Special Olympics.

"Just to see everybody and their support, it just re-energizes you all over again to be back out and making those connections and seeing people face to face, it's awesome," said Henry.

Tip-A-Cop donations go to the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a fundraising campaign as well as a physical relay run to Stillwater to kick off the Special Olympics.

While the games will be virtual in 2021 for the second consecutive year, police will continue to support these special athletes, even if it's from afar.

"We're moving forward so we can connect and give those athletes that support and let everyone know that they're here and doing amazing," said Henry.

Midwest City police will be back at the same time, same place on Friday, taking donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
