Oklahoma City police are investigating an officer’s use of force during an arrest Thursday morning.

Around 11:30 a.m., dispatchers received a call from a man stating another man was hiding in the bushes near the Carver Transitional Center located on S. May Ave.

The man, identified as Floyd Wallace, was suspected to be having some sort of mental health episode. He refused to answer officers’ questions or identify himself.

The encounter escalated when Wallace began asking for both officers’ names and badge numbers.

The officer, seen on body camera, pushes Wallace to the ground after the officer said Wallace made a fist at him as he was approaching the officer.

Wallace was arrested on a charge of assault and interfering or obstructing by disobeying a lawful command.

News 9 has learned video taken from across the street circulating online was shot by self-proclaimed second amendment auditor Timothy Harper.

You may remember Harper from a November 2019 incident at Twin Peaks, when he carried a gun inside in an establishment where alcohol is served.

The state dropped its charge against Harper in December 2020.

Wallace is a self-proclaimed first amendment auditor who traveled to the metro from Nebraska.

OCPD released the following statement regarding the incident.

“A recent use of force incident has been getting significant community response and comments on social media regarding what took place. It is imperative that we maintain transparency about what happened, so we are releasing a 911 call and the officer worn body camera video showing the use of force incident.”
