Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City will announce the expansion of its live event capacity Thursday morning.

Since September, the theatre has been operating at 80 percent capacity for live events for the safety of their artists, employees and guests.

Tower Theatre’s owners are announcing a plan and a timeline to gradually allow larger crowds in the upcoming weeks since Oklahoma City loosened pandemic-inspired regulations.

News 9 last talked to theatre officials in February when they said they were relying on money from the federal government's Save Our Stages Act to stay afloat.

Oklahoma City just lifted its COVID-19 state of emergency and the city-wide mask mandate last Friday.

Private businesses, however, can still require masks on their property.

Governor Kevin Stitt also lifted the statewide state of emergency this week, citing fewer new COVID-19 cases and a lower weekly average of new COVID-19 cases.
