People looking for a job can meet with up to 100 local companies with job openings at the Tulsa County fairgrounds.

There are thousands of jobs with the companies set up at the Central Park Hall. All they need is for people to apply.

“For my company alone, we’ve never really had to recruit. We’ve always kind of spoken for ourself and always just had applicants come to us," said Stacy McCalister.

McCalister has worked at Bama Companies for 20 years and now works in the talent acquisition department. She said the company is always hiring, but said recruiting employees has been tough recently and other businesses said the same.

“Our applicant pools have really kind of drastically went down the past six months which is surprising because we thought more people would be looking for jobs," said Mike Lowry.

Lowry is the owner of Signal 88 Security. He's been having to turn down businesses looking to hire his security company because he doesn't have enough staff.

He's hoping the career fair organized by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission will fill some of those positions.

“It feels a little bit like we’ve come full circle. We were here for the claims event we were helping thousands of people file claims and now we’re here helping those same people get re-employment opportunities. So, it’s a great place for the agency to be at," said Shelley Zumwalt.

Zumwalt is the Director of Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and said around 3,600 jobs are available currently with the companies at the fairgrounds. She said the hospitality industry is struggling to fill vacant positions, but they aren't the only ones.

“I think the thing I would like to say about that for claimants is now is the time to be looking for those re-employment opportunities because if you wait until late August-early September when benefits run out there is going to be a different job market; and it’s probably not going to be as robust as it is now," said Zumwalt.
