The Bartlesville Police Department is paying special tribute to a fallen Washington County Sheriff's deputy Wednesday.  It's part of the department's annual Peace Officers Memorial Day Service.

The annual Peace Officers Memorial Day ceremony honors officers who were killed or disabled.

Former U.S. Attorney Trent Shores was in attendance and said the support from the Bartlesville community made speaking at the event feel even more of an honor.

"It was without a doubt one of the most humbling opportunities that I've had," Shores said.

Wednesday’s ceremony paid special tribute to Washington County Sheriff's Office deputy Kyle Davis who died in the line of duty. Davis' father Randy Davis said although the loss of his son is still very painful, ceremonies like these touch his heart.

"It's just is another opportunity as a parent to be so proud of the sacrifice my son made," Davis said.

Davis' family heard how much he meant to the officers. The Washington County Sheriff's Office and Bartlesville Police Department presented them with a special wreath and a wooden blue-lined flag.

Shores said the department is a family that has each other's back, both in life and in death.

"The men and women who share that bond of selfless duty and service to their communities, I think have a special and unbreakable bond," Shores said.

"They have offered their prayers, offered anything we could need and ask for," Davis said.
