May 31, 2021 marks the centennial of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
The Remember and Rise event was scheduled for Monday, until it was abruptly cancelled last week.

The reason for cancellation looks to come down to a fight over money between the centennial commission and the lawyers for the living massacre survivors.
In the latest press conference, State Senator Kevin Matthews, who is also the chairman of the race massacre centennial commission, said this is about more than just one event.
He says the commission had been approached by the survivors lawyers and they agreed to $100,000 per survivor, along with $2 million in seed money for a reparations fund, but there has been a recent new list of demands.
They include asking for $1 million per survivor and $50 million to be put in the reparations fund.
They are also asking for a third of the funds from the Greenwood rising museum to be put into the reparations funds, six seats on the board of Greenwood Rising, public support for their lawsuit against the city, and a speaking role at the Remember and Rise event.
Matthews said if the legal team will allow them, they do plan to provide the funds to the survivors.
The commission says they do plan to reschedule the Remember and Rise event for later this year but there is no word on a date for that at this time.
John Legend, who was originally scheduled to headline the event, issued a statement Monday, "sending love to the people of Tulsa as they commemorate the Massacre of 100 years ago."
