Tulsa Police say an officer shot a woman who was charging toward them with a baseball bat overnight.

Police were called to a home near Pine and Yale where two neighbors were arguing. Officers say when they arrived, the woman ran inside a house and grabbed a baseball bat. TPD says she refused to put down the bat and kept moving toward the officers.

Police say the initial call said the woman was harassing her neighbors, yelling racial slurs, and threatening them. They say officers repeatedly ordered the woman to drop the bat. According to police, she charged toward them and an officer shot at the woman three times, hitting her in the leg.

"This is dangerous. She was being very aggressive,” said Officer Danny Bean with Tulsa Police. “She obviously had some issues, and a baseball bat can cause great bodily damage to us, any of the officers out there, the neighbors as well, and at that point, they felt that that's what they had to do to stop the situation."

Police say the officer who fired shots has been placed on routine paid leave. Police say the woman is expected to be okay.
