A young woman is in critical condition after a drive-by shooting around 6 p.m. Saturday near 36th Street North and Lansing. Police said a suspect is in custody.

Authorities said a woman surrendered to officers about a half-hour after the shooting.

Tulsa Police Department Lt. Jason Muse said the drive-by shooting was the result of an argument between the victim and several people in a red Ford vehicle.

During the argument, police said the suspect shot the victim several times. The victim is a woman in her early 20’s. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said what concerns them most about the shooting was not only that it happened in broad daylight but that it took place just several houses down from a birthday party.

“Anytime something like this happens, but especially impactful when it happens in a neighborhood where kids are around, you always hate to see kids get dragged into adult issues,” Muse said.

Muse said it’s still unclear if the victim will survive from her injuries.
