A 10-hour standoff near Sand Springs ended peacefully after the Osage County Sheriff's Office decided to disengage.

Deputies say they surrounded the home because they believed the man inside was having mental health issues and had guns.

SWAT Teams and Osage County deputies staged outside the home off Highway 97 on Movilla Hills Dr. and S Briar Cliff Rd. for nearly 10 hours, from 6 a.m. to about 4 p.m. Deputies say they got a call about a man who was suicidal and had guns in his house. So, they blocked off all roads near the home and asked neighbors to leave the area.

"They've got assault weapons, it's kind of scary so that's why we have been inside our home all day," neighbor Glenda Rose said.

"I am panicking because I cannot get to my home," another neighbor told News on 6.

There was yelling back and forth with the man and law enforcement, but deputies say the man did not point any weapons. However, they said he appeared to have lost his touch with reality and would not listen to deputies.

Ronnie Stevens with the Osage County Sheriff's office said have been getting these types of suicidal calls a lot lately.

"In Oklahoma and Osage County, it's just been super busy, a lot of people having suicidal issues," Stevens explained.

Deputies say because the man did not commit any crime worthy of an arrest, they had to leave. But they are asking neighbors here to be cautious.

Deputies have cleared the scene.
