At an emergency council meeting Thursday night, the tribe approved a measure authorizing the purchase.

It's not clear how much they could spend on the building, but tribal leaders said it will cost $17 million just to operate the facility for the rest of the year.

They said they will use the building to expand hospital services for their citizens and the public.

The Muscogee National Council approved a measure for the Muscogee Nation to evaluate the opportunity to purchase the former Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) facility in Tulsa. Authorization enables the health system to assess the potential acquisition of the CTCA real estate.
"We are looking to expand operations in Tulsa to better serve our citizens and the public,” said Shawn Terry, Secretary of Health for the Muscogee Nation. “Tulsa represents a significant portion of the Muscogee Reservation, and we are focused on bringing high quality health care to our citizens and the broader community.”
