A 13-year-old boy told investigators he killed his older brother, then set his body on fire earlier this month near Bridge Creek in Grady County.

Around 1 p.m. on March 6, investigators with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house fire near County Street 2948 and County Road 1247 south of Bridge Creek.

They said firefighters discovered the body of a 16-year-old in the garage, with an air compressor hose wrapped around his neck.

Investigators interviewed the victim’s 13-year-old brother who they said told them the two had planned out his brother’s death as an assisted suicide at least a month before the incident.

For now, the 13-year-old suspect is being charged as an adult, however a court motion has been filed requesting the boy be tried as a juvenile.

News 9 is not identifying the suspect.

According to court records, the suspect said after his brother placed a pillowcase over his head, he began choking him until passing out.

The suspect then told investigators he then grabbed an air compressor hose to “finish off.”

After his brother stopped breathing, the suspect said he then went back inside to continue playing a computer game.

After an hour passed, the suspect told investigators he went downstairs to make lunch.

When he did, he told investigators he then doused his brother’s body and a wheelbarrow full of his belongings in gasoline and set a fire.

After opening the garage to air out smoke, the suspect told investigators he continued to prepare his lunch.

The suspect’s mother was out of state with another sibling at the time of the incident, according to court records. She told investigators the suspect hasn’t been “acting the way he used to” since the incident.

The 13-year-old is behind bars at the Grady County Jail and is charged with first-degree murder and desecration of a human corps.

He is held on a $500,000 bond and is due back in court late next month.
