Mother-Daughter Team Set Up Lemonade Stand To Raise Money For Special Vacation Together

A nine-year-old girl and her mother are taking a trip to Universal Studios in Florida, thanks to a lemonade stand and a week’s worth of work.

"We are basically just dancing our way to Florida," said nine-year-old Declyn Beals. 

Declyn has some strong ideas about the way this world works - she is afraid of nothing.

"Brother is going on a fishing trip with his dad. I wanted to take her on a cheap little beach trip,” said Declyn's Mom Kelli Beals. “She wanted to try to go to Universal because she loves Harry Potter. I had surgery in April and have been off of work since then, budget was going to be tight.”

"It just popped up right in my head like, 'POP! Let’s do a lemonade stand,'" said Declyn. 

So, they did – together. They are set up at a location near 24th and Yale and they play their favorite songs, and they dance, laugh, and sit out in the heat selling some cold cups of lemonade.

"Even if nobody had come, I got to bond with my daughter more than I have ever this past week,” Kelli said. “Now I get to continue that in Florida with her.”

"I thought I would just make a couple hundred," said Declyn. 

She has made way more than that.

"The last count we did was $1,838," said Kelli. 

These girls are going to Universal Studios.

"We have had people from all walks of life, all ages, all colors just come out to support and help her out," said Kelli. 

"Never underestimate the power of lemonade,” said Declyn.
