Folds Of Honor Organizers Make Final Preparations For Tulsa's Freedom Fest

Organizers unloaded fireworks at Tulsa's River West Festival Park on Thursday for one of the largest 4th of July firework displays in the region.

While many are having trouble finding fireworks, Folds of Honor FreedomFest organizers said luckily they planned. 

“In anticipation of a possible shortage in the future as well. So for us, we won’t see any impact at Folds of Honor FreedomFest for the next couple of years. By then supply lines will probably have corrected themselves," said Randy Howell. 

This is Howell's sixth year as the event coordinator for the 4th of July celebration event. He said there is a lot of work happening behind the scenes as they prepare to shoot 6,000 fireworks into the sky. 

“When this one goes into the air it goes a thousand feet up into the air and when it explodes it’s two football fields in diameter with the explosive beauty. So if you want to see an amazing fireworks show – we’re probably the best in town," said Howell.

Last year's FreedomFest was canceled because of the pandemic, but organizers expect this year to be bigger and better than before. “We’re receiving phone calls from people interested in coming from around the region and from various states just to be a part of being with everybody, outdoors, enjoying their friends, enjoying their family, and celebrating this day," said Carrigg.

Celebrations are going to be happening throughout the day on Sunday, but entertainment and music events start at 6 and fireworks begin at 9:30.
